I'M GOING TO COMIC-CON!!!

Okay, so it's not "news" that I'm attending San Diego Comic-Con International...  However, it is NEW that I'm going... AS AN EXHIBITOR!  On May 12th, I received an email informing me how to access the Comic-Con exhibitor website, and related things.  I got really confused, because in January they sent a letter informing me that I was put on a "Wait List" (which in previous years, I've come to realize is the same thing as a 'polite no').  But sure enough, I clicked on the various links in the email and found myself staring at my name... ON THE LIST OF ARTIST ALLEY EXHIBITORS!

Comic-Con is a couple days away, and in the span of less than 2 months, I compiled some art (mostly some of my older stuff, cuz time was limited on being able to make new stuff, though I did make some new stuff), found a printer, got some prints made.  I even managed to assemble a mini-comic with a writer I partnered with at Comic-Con last year.  It's insane how far I've come in just the span of a year.

#inktober - Days 20 & 21

2 more today... and it's EARLY today... so maybe more will be posted later? Maybe...

Switched back to the PITT pens for these today... I think they're my favorite, cuz they give that brush quality with the control of a marker...  Try them!

APE-ril: Cy-gor

Part gorilla, part man, part cyborg....  ALL KILLER!

Cy-Gor is a genetically altered man and gorilla from the "Spawn" universe.  I think i could have amped this one up a bit more... but I think I still captured the power of the character...  but yes, if I ever draw him again, I will definitely go a bit more dynamic and "in-your-face" with it.

Congrats McFarlane and Co.

A quick sketch of Spawn today.  Yesterday, the 200th issue of Spawn came out.  I own every single issue from 1 to 200.  Over 18 years of story telling.  It's insane.  Why do I have every issue?  I'm not really sure.  I mean, I like the character and story, but I easily LOVE Batman more (yet I own very few actual Batman comics by comparison).  I have a Batman tattoo.  Not a Spawn tattoo.

Whether you love or hate Spawn, or think it jumped the shark early on, 200 issues is a milestone.  Almost 20 years of storytelling.  And not too many hands in the creative pot.  A character like Batman has over 200 people take the reigns of the story in 20 years.  Spawn's creative team has remained very very small by comparison.

Anyway, kudos to Mr. McFarlane and the the rest of the team that has brought us a character like Spawn over the the past 200 issues.  Keep up the good work!
