Dire Troll Bomber

My best friend likes to paint miniature figures (many, I believe, are made by Privateer Press), and then plays role-playing games with them... I don't know all the details, not really my cup of tea.  However, he is quite talented at painting things that are so incredibly tiny (most of them are rarely more than 2 or 3 inches tall).  The amount of detail and intricacy I see him put into some of the figures just blows my mind... because I paint, but no way could I pull it off on the micro scale.

Anyway, the above image is a drawing I did, based off a figure that he painted.  I really wanted to break away and just go all out nuts on something weird and detailed (you try drawing monkeys for a month, and tell me you don't want to draw something completely different!), and this guy struck my artistic fancy... so there ya have it, one rampaging Dire Troll Bomber, with sidekick (who I believe lights the kegs?).

On an unrelated side note, I have finally got around to listing "Other Artisit's Blogs" on my page.  You can see them along the ride side of this blog.  These are just blogs of artists that I enjoy looking at their work (and a few peers).  If you're an artist, and have a blog and it's not listed, let me know.  I'll check it out, and if I dig your work, I'll add you to the list.  If you know of another artist's blog and you don't see it listed, and you think I might dig it, then also, let me know.

Yar! Gharbarharahggharhghharhgha brigaa biggaa!!!!

So one Halloween a couple of years ago, stores were selling this little 5 inch scary looking dude with troll hair. They were called "Screechers".  You pick him up, squeeze him, and he shouts some jibber jabber.  And i immediately thought "Awww, how cute."   There are 2 now.  I have one that I keep by my desk, who has been named "Powers".  The girlfriend has one in her car on the passenger side door, named "Samuel".

Anywho, I wanted to draw something with gritty detail, and use the "rougher" shading technique I had experimented with briefly on the Groundhog Day post, and there you have it... this scary looking troll dude.  I failed to capture his cuteness however.

World of Farmcraft

Just a quicky sketch today.  I have had 2 video game obsessions in the past couple years, those obessessions being "World of Warcraft" and... Farmville.   Yes, I play Farmville.  A lot.  I would play more WoW, but my computer is getting old, and the gameplay is almost unbearable.  So WoW is on hold.  Which kinda sucks, cuz I really wanna get into Cata, but... can't stand the low frame rate and rendering.  Which sucks, cuz my computer was awesome once.  Come to think of it there was a stretch of Peggle for a while, should of worked that in.  Oh well.

So I thought it'd be interesting to see my level 80 (again, haven't played Cata yet) troll rogue go aggro on some crops, and that's where this idea came from.  And the idea is pretty much what i quickly sketched above.  This is about how detailed I get with sketches before doing a fully detailed piece.  I could see this becoming a painting, but I think I'll keep it digital if I ever attempt a serious take at this.  It's almost like a selfless-portrait.

For those keeping count, I didn't post anything on here yesterday.  This wasn't due to lack of drawing, I actually drew a LOT yesterday.  Just ALL of it was for a project that might see publication!  And although I haven't signed any NDAs for the project yet, it's wrong to post that stuff before it's released or I'm off the project.  But I'm very excited by a lot of it.  So yes, no post.  But still being drawsy!
